Why our apps are free (and stay free)

Open almost any brain-training or puzzle app and you'll hit the same wall within a minute: a subscription screen standing between you and the thing you came for. We decided early that Cognito wouldn't do that — and any app we make after it won't either.

Free changes how you design

When you're not engineering a paywall, you stop designing friction. You're no longer asking “how do we make the free version annoying enough to convert?” You're asking “how do we make this good enough to keep?” Those are very different products.

We'd rather earn a permanent spot on your home screen than a recurring charge on your card.

No dark patterns

1No fake timers or manufactured urgency.
2No mid-game upsells breaking your focus.
3No “unlock your progress” ransom screens.

How that's sustainable

We keep the studio small and the apps lean, which means we don't need subscription revenue to justify a bloated team. If we ever add anything paid, it'll be a genuine extra — never a toll gate on something that was free yesterday. That's a promise we're happy to put in writing.
